Orthopaedic Editorial Explains Uptake of Early Detection of Musculoskeletal Disease in Japan:
In an interesting editorial published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Science, Kozo Nakamura, the President of the Japanese Orthopaedic Society, discusses the rapidly ageing population in Japan, and the government’s response to the subsequent increased call for nursing care – to establish a new fund for scientific research focusing on locomotive ability in the elderly and the research will focus on early detection of any decline in locomotive ability caused by musculoskeletal diseases and on early action to prevent their deterioration, thereby decreasing the need for later nursing care.
