The Romanian government endorsed the Bone and Joint Decade July 5th, 1999 when Prof. Dr. Alexandru Ciocalteu, Secretary of the State, signed the BJD Declaration on behalf of the Ministry of Health of Romania.
On October 8, 1999, the Center of Rheumatology organised a national symposium "Osteoarthritis - new perspectives" in Bucharest. In relation to this meeting a press conference was held where the goals and principles of the Bone and Joint Decade were presented. A translation to Romanian of the BJD brochure was distributed to the about 500 participants.
October 18–21, 2000 the IV National Congress of Phys.Med & Rehabilitation took place. This important meeting was organized under the auspices of the BJD.

March 2002, Bucharest: Monthly scientific meeting of the Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. At this meeting Dr M Berteanu presented the burden of care of musculoskeletal disorders (BJD presentation)
April 2002, Bucharest: Fifth National Symposium of Pain with International Participation: “Low Back Pain, a Multi-disciplinary Approach” The role of the BJ Decade was emphasised by many speakers in the opening session and during the meeting.
May 2002, Bucharest: The VIII-th International Congres of the French Speaking Orthopaedists.
May 2002, Eforie Nord: Annual Meeting of Balneology (Spa-therapy). Focus on treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.
June 2002, Bucharest: Physical Medicine Symposium organised by the Romanian Society of PRM.
September 2002, Mangalia: The National Conference of Rheumatology.
October 2002, Bucharest: Seconnd Joint Meeting of the Romanian Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Europeean Society of Regional Anaesthesia. The meeting will encompass a session of regional anaesthesia, musculoskeletal disorders, and rehabilitation
October 2002, Craiova: The 12th Annual National Conference of the Romanian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. The meeting will mark the beginning of the BJD “Action Week”
November 2002, Sinaia: Medical Days of the Prahova County, organised by the Romanian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and the Romanian Society of Rheumatology.
