The Hungarian government endorsed the BJD on 1998-11-25.

Mr Göncz, president of Hungary, and Dr Bálint at the NAN opening ceremony in Budapest in May 2000.
The Hungarian NAN organised its first conference at the spa-city of Gyula, Eastern Hungary between 5th and 7th of April, 2000.
 
Under the umbrella of the Bone and Joint Decade, the Pécs University Medical Centre won a State Grant of 700 million HUF (2.2 million USD) for researching and developing the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal diseases. More information in the project summary.
