A French task force has been set up, consisiting of the French Society for Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, SOFCOT, The French Association for Rheumatism, AFR, The French Society for Arthroscopy, SFA, The French Society for Hand Surgery and Groupe de Recherche International sûr l'Osteoporose, GRIO. 2. The Executive Summary has been translated into French.
The societies have been working together and has decided on a French translation of the Bone and Joint Decade; La Decennie de 'Os et de l'Articulation. Pierre Delmas on the task force has during the autumn organised a press conference with the Queen of Jordania. The Bone and Joint Decade in France, in conjunction with the SOFCOT, arranged a press conference attended by a large number of journalists from medical and general press and medias which resulted in articles in some of the most important papers.
France endorsed The Bone and Joint Decade June 20, 2000. The official endorsement was signed by the French Minister of Health Dominique Gillot.
The BJD flyer has been translated into French. It is available on request at lziegler@unice.fr.
Prof. Liana Euller-Ziegler had a meeting with Bernard Kouchner, French Minister of Health on November 30, 2001. It was a very positive meeting. The Executive Summary of the WHO/BJD Technical Report was very well received. Prof. Euller-Ziegler highlighted the French BJD Network during the meeting, with notably a presentation of the main goals of each member organisation.

- Journée Mondiale contre l'Ostéoporose: World Osteoporosis Day in several cities in FRANCE, October 23, 2004, "vieillir sans fracture" "ageing without fracture", with practical informations on osteoporosis, risk factors,fractures, diagnostic, bone densitometry, prevention (including nutrition and exercise) and treatments.
