On June 16, 2003 Professor Necdet Ünüvar, MD, undersecretary of the ministry of health of Turkey, signed a Bone and Joint Decade Proclamation and Endorsement.
BJD is mentioned in the introduction of the first announcement of the 1st Congress of Osteoporosis & Osteoarthritis that will be held on April 30–May 4, 2003 in Antalya, Turkey. This meeting is aiming to increase the awareness of the orthopaedic surgeons on the issues of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. The BJD logo will be highlighted in the program and in the Journal of the Arthroplasty Arthroscopic Surgery as well. Journal of Arthroplasty Arthroscopic Surgery is the official publication of the Turkish Joint Diseases Foundation. Dr O. Sahap Atik, NAN coordinator, is the editor-in-chief.
